Year 9 Letter to Parents - Key Stage 4 Options Evening

It's decision time for our Year 9 students...

We would like to invite all the parents of Year 9 students to a Key Stage 4 Options Evening at Idsall School. The evening will take place on Thursday 25th January 2018 at 6.00 pm and should last for approximately an hour and a half.  The following week we are holding the Year 9 Parents Evening on Thursday 1st February, where you will have chance to discuss your child’s progress so far this academic year and the suitability of different courses we offer.

The evening will commence with a presentation in the Hall outlining the options process and requirements of different courses - compulsory and optional. There will then be an opportunity to visit presentations from different departments, where you will be able to ask specific questions relating to the make-up of different courses.

Individual members of staff will be able to answer any queries you may have. Senior members of staff will also be available to give advice and support relating to any aspect of the options process.

Idsall Careers Fayre PosterIn addition to the subject information, we are pleased to announce that we will also be running a Careers Fayre for you to visit throughout the evening.  Businesses, colleges, training providers and other organisations will be represented.  This will be a great opportunity for you to find out more about possible pathways beyond Y11 and the entry requirements needed to follow them.

This is obviously a very important stage of your child’s education and is part of a package of activities that will hopefully ensure that all students make informed choices about their Key Stage 4 studies.

I look forward to meeting you at the Year 9 Options and Y9 Parents Evenings.

Yours sincerely,

D A Crichton
Deputy Headteacher

All options applications will need to be completed by Friday 16th February.
