We recognise that regular high quality homework which is closely related to day time learning activities is a very important feature of successful learning. All students are expected to complete homework, and are issued with Home Study Planners to help them to organise it and to get it in on time. We like parents to check on homework and to contact the school if they are concerned about it in any way.
The Study Planner has a space for parents to sign each week to let us know that they have seen it. There is also a space for parents or teachers to attach notes or messages, although this is not the best means of communication if there is an urgent concern. A note to the Form Tutor or a phone call is likely to be more effective. If the student loses their planner for some reason, then new ones can be purchased from the Finance Office.
Year 12 and 13 Homework Timetable - All subjects will set a minimum 5 hours per subject per week of either directed work or self-study’. This will include a range of tasks such as essay writing, project work, reading, research, answering past questions, coursework, presentation work, revision etc. It is expected that as a minimum for every hour of study in the classroom there will be an hour of study out of the classroom.
We have compiled a list of suggested revision books for students for the academic year starting September 2016. The books are useful as a concise summary of our courses and they often include questions to test subject understanding: Year 10 Curriculum Book List ; Year 11+ Curriculum Book List

We held an exam revision strategy evening for students and parents on 17th March 2016 which was very well received. During the evening staff presented various revision techniques that students could use to improve their performance in exams to give them the best chance of being successful at what is a very challenging time for them. The methods presented on the evening along with a booklet detailing each subject and how to manage time and stress are available to download below:
