Student Support

Student Support Managers

Idsall School have two Student Support Managers; Mrs Lynn who supports Key Stage 3 students (Years 7 to 9) and Mr Lamb who supports Key Stage 4 students (Years 10 and 11). They work very closely with our students, parents and carers. The Student Support Managers are responsible for the daily pastoral care of our students, working alongside tutors and class teachers. They mentor and monitor the students, follow up attendance issues and access additional services for young people who may require further support. They are both committed to ensuring that pupils in their care are happy, enjoy coming to school, and are making good progress with their learning.

The Student Support offices are located along the library corridor leading from reception to the cross-roads area.  Students wishing to see the Student Support Managers should do so at break or lunchtimes.

Idsall School Counselling Service

The trained counsellors at Idsall School are registered members of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.  They aim to provide a service where individual students feel welcomed and able to explore their concerns, options for change or develop better ways of coping in order to enjoy a greater sense of wellbeing.  Students may want to explore different issues such as anxiety, bereavement, relationship difficulties, stress, depression, trauma, anger or confidence.

Whatever is troubling a student, it may be worth spending some time exploring what is happening in an environment where there is professional support.   This process may enable students to seek out solutions that they are comfortable with.   A student’s first appointment with a counsellor starts with a discussion to decide whether or not counselling may be helpful.  Both the student and counsellor may then choose to enter into a counselling agreement or contract.  Appointments always take place during school sessions and students may choose to end counselling at any time.
