When and How to Apply

Pictured are Mrs Bettelley and Mr Chrimes with Bryher Mackenzie and her “I did it” award which is given to Sixth Formers who either perform over and above what is expected of them, someone who gives something back to the Sixth Form Community or someone who triumphs over adversity.

  • Before you apply you need to choose which subjects you would like to study. On the application form you must place the subjects you wish to study in order of preference up to a maximum of five subjects. Students will study three or four subjects in Yr 12.
  • Application forms will be given to you by your Tutor if you are at Idsall. Some information will be pre-printed on the form.
  • External students will need to complete all the sections on the application form which is included in the brochure or on this website.

Idsall Students

  • You will have had the opportunity to attend the Sixth Form Open Evening and attend the Induction Talks in subject areas.
  • After finalizing your choice of subjects, complete the application form and hand it in to Mrs. Bettelley in the Sixth Form Centre. Interviews will take place in February so forms need to be handed in a.s.a.p. after the Open Evening. Deadline date is Friday 2nd February 2018.
  • Forms will be accepted after the deadline but numbers may mean students are placed on a waiting list.
  • Letters of acceptance or rejection will be sent to students individually.
  • Students will receive further information giving details of enrolment

External Students

  • You will have had the opportunity to attend Idsall Sixth Form Open Evening.  If not, visits can always be arranged if you contact school.
  • After finalising your choice of subjects, complete the application form and post it to the Sixth Form Centre, c/o Mr. H Sehejpal.
  • Forms need to be returned a.s.a.p. after Open Evening and by the deadline of Friday 2nd February 2018. Interviews will be on Wednesday 7th and Thursday 8th February 2018.  NB If numbers are high additional dates will be arranged.
  • Forms will be accepted after the deadline but numbers may mean that students are placed on a waiting list.
  • Letters of acceptance or rejection will be sent to students individually.
  • Students will receive further information giving details of enrolment.

All Students

At all stages of the application procedure, students will have access to the Head of Sixth Form, the Sixth Form Manager and the Tutor Team and will be able to discuss their applications with them.  If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact one of the team or phone school.

Final decisions regarding AS Level subjects will be made during enrolment which will be on GCSE results day in August.

It may be possible to change subjects if numbers and timetabling permit.

There will be an Induction Day to which you are all invited in July – date to be confirmed.

Final Thoughts

Choosing a post 16 programme of study is a big decision which to a large extent will affect your life in terms of further and higher education and employment.

It is therefore important that you seek good guidance and advice so that you can make the right choices.

It is also important that you achieve good grades so that final push towards your GCSE exams is vital.  It will be hard work but it will be worthwhile.
